Core Group Company implemented a live shop floor visibility system for a custom millwork and casework manufacturer. The platform gave technicians and supervisors a real-time view of active work without changing how crews clock in or close out jobs.
The Challenge
The company’s production software scheduled each step using fixed average durations, so the red and green job status couldn’t be trusted, and target dates were regularly overridden by hand.
The shop floor relied on a generic Kanban board that didn’t show time spent or the next task. There was also no way to confirm that technicians had read the work order instructions before starting a job.
The Solution
Core Group Company developed employee-specific TV displays for the shop floor. Each screen shows its group of technicians their active work, next To Do items, and planned vs. actual hours in green, yellow, and red.
Live time tracking combines recorded hours with every active clock-in, so crews see real progress instead of stale totals.
Technicians confirm work order instructions on their first clock-in for each job, and any edit to the notes triggers a new acknowledgment. The system connects to the existing production software through a read-only integration, so it stays the system of record with no write-back and no data migration.
The Result
Every job now starts with confirmed instructions, backed by a timestamped acknowledgment stored in the company’s production system.
Feasibility was proven in one week, with a 60-hour proof of concept going from scoping to a working demo in seven days.
Live displays are running across the shop floor, each set to its own group of employees, giving the team a clear view of what’s in progress and what’s next.
